PADI Course Director

Bjorn Tackmann

Bjorn started diving in Scandinavia twenty-five years ago when the conditions and equipment were not as favorable as today. Nonetheless it was fascinating from the very first minute.

Bjorn has been diving in Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Andaman Sea, the Java Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Siam.

Twelve years ago he decided to turn his passion into a profession and went to South East Asia to work as a Scuba Instructor.

Bjorn became a PADI Course Director in 1996 and now holds the best IE success rates in Thailand.

He was trained at PADI Headquarters in California, USA and has conducted more than 100 IDCs since becoming a PADI Course Director.

Bjorn’s dedication to the Instructor Development Program has resulted in receiving PADI’s most prestigious Hallmark of Excellence Award in the Year 2001, 2002, 2003 and again in 2004.

He is the only Course Director in the world to receive PADI's "Outstanding Contribution to Instructor Development" award for four consecutive years !

PADI IDC Staff Instructor

Alan O'Beirne

Alan O'Beirne is a PADI IDC Staff instructor currently located in Bermuda. He works full time in a small hotel as an Assistant Maitre'd and Bar Supervisor. He dives with a local dive operation Blue Water Divers, and can be seen most weeks on the Constellation & Montana Spends his vacation time diving the sites of the Andaman Sea, and working for a dive operation called Dive-Asia. Stephen Greenstein

Stephen, a jeweller at heart has found a new passion in diving. After becoming certified Stephen has been involved in teaching aboard some Live-a-Boards in the Andaman Sea while working for several companies. He also likes to spend the winter months working on his own enterprise of jewellery making. Anders Lundqvist

Anders is originally from a small town in Sweden, gave up all the cold and grey weather to live in the warmer climate of Thailand. He is currently working as a freelance instructor in and around the island of Phuket, and lives in Kata. When Anders is not diving or eating, then he can be found drinking Swedish grog or drinking soda's either in the local restaurant or at home with a good movie and his feet-up relaxing. Originally from Amsterdam Julia has a love of travelling and has vast experience in both travelling and diving in many places in the world. Always very eager to learn more about every new place she goes to, Julia will be an asset to the diving community. Marie "Bo" O'Connor

A recently certified Diving Instructor, originally from the far corner of England, has dived in Hawaii, Thailand and other exciting areas of the world. When not sitting on a quiet beach in Thailand drinking Chang Beer, Bo also practices the ancient art of massage. In her spare time likes to play pool and dance the nights away in various locations known only to a small band of instructors. Terry Pryse

Terry, a butcher by profession beacame a dive instructor to get away from the rat race. An ardent West Ham supporter, can be seen at the Docksider bar on Front Street in Hamilton Bermuda when his team are playing. Very knowledgeable on all the marine life around the island, has also dived the Californian coast, Central America, UK, just to name a few places.

Sarah Ann Edwards

Sarah is a newly certified instructor, currently working freelance in Phuket Thailand. Can be seen regularly in the local hypermarket checking out all the latest diving aids! When not visiting the local restaurants and drinking establishments, she can be found meditating at the local temple. Helene Clement

Helene comes from that romantic city - Paris France. Works full time for Inspector Clouseau (Surete), where she plans all sorts of events and activities. Recently became  a Dive Instructor, having completed her course in Phuket. Is constantly being guide by her marketing manager and watersports expert - Johann. In their spare time they can be found drinking Pastis or Cafe Latte's with some Pain au Choclat on the balcony of their apartment overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Penny Sidaway

Penny originates from somewhere in the middle of England, currently still at University managed to become a PADI Instructor. Completed her course in Phuket, and when she is not studying can be found in the warmer waters of Greece. Heidi Hess

Heidi, originally from Pittsburg came to the sunny island of Bermuda to work as a diving instructor with Blue Water Divers in 1995. For the last ten years she has been teaching and guiding in the waters around this beautiful island. A boat pilot extraordinaire, can be seen quawfing martini's at some of the islands drinking establishments or on the patio of her apartment. Originally from the shores of North Anerica, Dawn has recently joined the ranks of professional divers with her divemaster certification. When she is not making pastries, she can be seen enjoying her diving in the waters of Bermuda. In her spare time she can be found sitting on her patio sipping Martini's or Gin & Tonics and eating chocolate strawberries. Vanessa Nankervis

Vanessa spent several years counting the fish around the reefs of Bermuda before returning to the cooler waters of the United Kingdom. Originally a hair stylist where she counted curlers, she finally found happiness in the waters with the fish. Now she can be found back in the UK, living with her husband, but unable to dive too much because of a back injury. Nick Ballard

Nick is currently working somewhere in the world and has future ties to Costa Rica. He has dived extensively in the azure waters of Bermuda, along with shark watching in Cocos. Keith is a Pastry Chef at one of the cottage colonies in Bermuda, where he is always busy making his favourite pastry - Gnash Cake. After recently learning to dive he is busy diving in his free time, which he does from any beach he decides to park his bike at.
